History
Rourkela, which in Sadri dialect spoken by local Tribal means “Your Village”, was a tiny village till the year 1952. Once decision was taken by the Government of India to set up an Integrated Steel Plant here and foundation for a Temple of Modern India' was laid, the process of development started, and to cope up with the rising demand for provisions, services and construction materials, businessmen, industrialists and contractors from different parts of Orissa and other states started establishing themselves in and around Rourkela. Dear Members,
I am indeed thankful to the members of our Presidential Board and you all for reposing your confidence in me by electing me unanimously President of this august Chamber during its Golden Jubilee Year. Friends, summons to serve the society are very rare and I have accepted this summon with great humility. Fifty years in the life of an institution is a land mark which depicts its continuity and during the last fifty years, your Chamber has always remained in service of Trade, Commerce & Industry in and around Rourkela in particular and in the State of Odisha in general.

Dear Friends,
Let me convey my sincere thanks to all of you for selecting me as General Secretary of your Chamber during this Golden Jubilee Year. For the last few years it was being discussed among the members of the Presidential Board that during the Golden Jubilee year all the Office Bearers will be selected from the Past Presidents. I am thankful to the Presidential Board for selecting me as General Secretary during the year 2011-12. Friends, I am confident that with the support of Presidential Board and all members of the Chamber we can celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the RCCI in a grand way.
