Rourkela Chamber of Commerce & Industry

From President's Desk

Dear Friends,

I am indeed highly thankful to all for choosing me as the “PRESIDENT” for the year 2023-24. My regard goes to all my Former Presidents, my members in the Executive Committee, Honorary Legal Advisors, well wishers as well as esteem members of RCCI.

RCCI Office is not new to me asI have discharged my duties for the Chamber in almost all the posts starting from Group Secretary, Secretary Finance, General Secretary (twice), Vice President (twice) and finally President, for the second term 2016-17 &2023-24. I have done to the best of my abilities in all the matter may be under someone or with someone and now finally as the President of RCCI 2023-24.

Friends, I have been always telling in all my deliberations that, for me RCCI is like a family. We must pay regard to all the senior members, mainly comprises of the Former Presidents,Vice Presidents, General Secretaries and senior members.

The activities of Chamber has increased in many folds in recent days, members strength is also increased to 1060 as on, today. This change is permanent as we all know and Chamber cannot be an exception in this race of regenerations and reformations. The business scenario haschanged significantly in the recent past. Inmy opinion, this change is natural and my experience says that business environment of Rourkela has always been up and down as we had already seendead city in the early 85’s – 90’s. We were scared to plan and run the ongoing business due to difficulties all around. After sometime, the Indian Industries, Trade& Commerce, with new avenues and support of the Government, at state as well as the Union level, started signaling positively. We improved more on our local resources and reforms. Our approaches were more vigorouslyto overcome the slow down. After almost passing a tough time, the business improved and continued doing progress year after year (2003-04 onwards). The business consolidated in the steel making, power generation and infrastructure development. The generation gapwhat we anticipate, has been clearly experienced and visualized by many of us. We have seen the changes of business sustainabilityfrom 1980’s till 2000 . The post millennium era, started improving for our Industries and so as in our state too gradually.

Friends, since I took over the charge as the President of RCCI for the “IInd” Term, I had thought of doing good for all the members of RCCI may be in different ways so as to minimize misunderstandings, differences and avoid the blame games and intended to have a good human relationships between each other. The member’s in the Executive Committee presently, including Office Bearers and  the office staffs,  are all working in positive attitude. All the members in the Executive Committee, Sub- Committee are showing their keen interest in their working.

Friends, the major issue of RCCI’s land has been resolved, and is a very significant and vital achievement. I need to congratulate the concerned “Land Regularization Committee”who worked hard on the land matter. With the blessings of Lord Jagannath Mahaprabhu, and support of all the Former Presidents, the land matter got cleared by the Government through their Secretariat Revenue Department.

The regular work of RCCI is carried out on usual manner, where the Group Secretaries work on different respective avenues like:

  1. SAIL- RSP (Co-ordination)
  2. Railway (Co-ordination)
  3. Civic Amenities
  4. Public Relation
  5. Industries
  6. Trade & Commerce
  7. Information Technology
  8. Service & MSME Sector
  9. Nari Shakti & Women Entrepreneurship.

Friends, this year I have tried to work on new dimensions by creating the undernoted groups/ committees who work independently in related issues:

  1. Mahila Shakti & Empowerment Committee:By inducting women entrepreneurs in the group to locate, understand the business relationships, as well as to understand the Government support on policies for women entrepreneurs. They collectively work togetherto have stake in suggestions for development of women entrepreneurs and women empowerment ahead.
  2. Honorary Members:Renowned international persons have beeninducted with honorary membership of RCCI. This group will be a guiding force for Uplifting new business, enhancing business opportunities, promotion of  export and import, encouraging start-ups and IT Sector as well as tie up for collaborations and growth of Industry (MSMEs)globally.

Friends, at the last,I request all the members to remain united and be positive to look for development of trade, commerce/business, at their individual capacities to use the resources through RCCIas and when required. RCCI is always there for them in the hours of “REAL NEEDS”.The young generation, needs to be encouraged so as to come forward, to improve theLeadership Qualities carrying out their future endeavors and to keep the flag of RCCI fly high and high, in coming future.
